Powerful Parent Talk Strategies (one-two hour session)

An entertaining, one-time introduction to Parent Talk principles, customized to the interests of your community.  Learn strategies for defusing power struggles, creating accountability, and encouraging confident kids.  Presentation is open and interactive, and participants will leave with take-home skills and confidence to turn power struggles into problem solving.

New!  Family Strategies for Surviving (and thriving!) through School

Whose homework is it, anyway?  Help families adjust to the back-to-school transition with strategies that work.  Learn how to set the scene with routine, share the responsibility, and build confidence with evidence.   This one-session workshop will offer practical skills to take home right away and have them asking for more.  

New!  Achieving with the Attraction PrincipleTM

Based upon Teaching the Attraction Principle to Children by Chick Moorman and Thomas Haller, this workshop will discuss the powerful impact of the Attraction Principle and how to teach it to children and adolescents.  Learn how to help kids think positively, set goals and achieve their dreams with an emphasis on responsibility and citizenship.

Understand what's changing in the tween or teen brain to explain the behavior changes and emotional reactions you see.  Learn strategies to defuse conflict and problem solve to raise a responsible, respectful teen you can enjoy living with through adolescence.   

 

Parent Talk Series for all ages (one-two hours per session)

Based upon the books Parent Talk and The 10 Commitments by Chick Moorman and Thomas Haller, this series of single-session workshops focuses on specific parenting challenges.  Choose one, two, three or four sessions.  

Taming Power Struggles

Find yourself in power struggles without knowing how you got there or how to escape?   Pick up some easy tools to change the dynamics in your home!  Practice language strategies for outwitting battles, defusing conflict and searching solutions.  Emphasizes choice-driven empowerment without shame, blame or diminishing parental influence.   

Creating a Culture of Accountability

Want to raise confident, responsible kids in a world that often caters to victims?  Learn strategies to hold children accountable with gentleness and love.  Turn common phrases that teach helplessness into language of independence.  Set reasonable limits and reality-based consequences.  Discover new tools to raise responsible, respectful children.

Turning Praise Junkies into Confident Kids

Are you bending over backwards to help your child feel good about accomplishments?   Discover how to promote healthy self-esteem without creating junkies who depend on increasing levels of praise.  Learn to encourage effectively and give corrective feedback without criticizing the child.  This workshop will open your eyes to the power and perils of praise in our culture.

Saving Sibling Sanity

Spending more time refereeing your children than having fun together?  Learn simple strategies to build sibling relationships that last a lifetime.  Open lines of communication instead of fueling quarrels and frustrations.  Based on Siblings Without Rivalry by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish.

These skills are fantastic for building any relationship!  Learn principles to smooth adult dynamics in the workplace, service sector, school setting, or home.   Based upon Couple Talk by Chick Moorman and Thomas Haller and Tongue-Fu! by Sam Horn.  Presentation is open and interactive, and participants will take away skills and confidence to handle tough everyday communication dilemmas.

The Language of Response-Able Parenting (four to six two-hour sessions)

This multi-session series improves family communication through effective Parent Talk.  Practical, hands-on learning is built into every session.  Participants develop a comprehensive understanding of the principles with more time to practice and discuss in class.  The structure also allows parents to provide and receive specific, valuable feedback after practicing the skills at home.   We address the following topics with ready-to-implement parenting techniques:
